Yesterday was our first stressful day in the NICU since she was born, but good news first. SHE POOPED! yeah!
So we came in in the after noon to hear that they had retaken x-rays and found out her UAC (umbilical arterial catheter) had drifted and was not longer in a good spot.
They informed us that they were going to need to re-move it and try a PIV (peripheral IV catheter). So, we stayed while they tried to put in two PIV's but her veins were just too small and every time they tried to flush it blew. So, at that point they had informed us that the next step was to put in a PICC line (peripheral inserted central catheter). They positive thin about this type is that the it will last much longer than a PIV, even if they would have been able to get a PIV started; apparently they just don't last very long these little babies.
Inserting a PICC line is treated like a surgical procedure, it is done in a totally sterile environment, by draping everything off right here in her room. So we left to go grab a bite to eat since there was no where for us to stay. We were told that it should take around an hour or two. So we were still waiting about 3 hrs later and starting to worry little, when the nurse called us and told us that everything was fine and she was doing well. She was just exhausted because they had a rough time getting the PICC line in they had to try it three times.
We then went down to her room and sat by her side for quite some time. The dr's and nurses had decided that she had had enough with all the work this after noon they were just going to let her rest for the evening and reduce their care times.
All in all today turned out to be a pretty good day, but mommy and daddy had a rough one.
Some stats for yesterday and today.
Ainsley was moved up to 6ml of breast milk at feedings every 3 hrs yesterday.
She was also moved down on her pressure through the CPAP, which is great.
Thanks all we are feeling your love and prayers

Yay -- poop :)
That waiting for doctors while your child is in surgery is rough -- I've come to the conclusion that our kids are even more resilient then we are, as they come out of these things more intact than we do :-/
Hope you guys are holding together -- can't wait to see all three of you.
It was wonderful to see you, Brando and Ainsley. You come to my mind, often...always with a smile and a prayer!
Thank you so much for your updates, pics, posts--Look forward everyday to see whats new. Prayers are with you all
