Ainsley Marie has been here with us now 61 days, it is hard to believe but she still wouldn't have been born yet for over 3 weeks had she come on her due date of Sept 22.
It has been a while between posts, mommy is going crazy pumping and breastfeeding and daddy just got over being sick and down and out a couple of days this week. As we continue to check off items on the preparing to come home list we can see we are nearing the end of this part of our lives, and preparing mentally for the exciting moment every parent should get the opportunity to do, which is to drive away from the hospital with their newborn child :-)
Over the last few weeks we have been dealing with a little issue we kept thinking was going to go away. We had randomly started seeing blood in Ainsley's stool. We now think we have nailed it down to a culprit and that would be a cow's milk protein intolerance. It took a bit of troubleshooting fortification components of her feedings and ultimately no longer fortifying. This caused her weight gain to plateau over a period of time as she was removed from the fortification she usually lost a little bit of weight. However she has finally started to gain weight on straight breast milk. As of yesterday she was weighing 6lbs and 3.2oz.
Homecoming: It looks as though we may be headed home later this week. In order for this to remain the plan she must continue to gain weight over the next couple of days and continue her apnea free streak of late. We are so very excited and ready to leave the hospital with our precious little one.
Thanks again everyone for your thoughts, prayers, meals, gifts, and love..we feel so very thankful for the wonderful community that surrounds us and makes a time like this more manageable.
